Background

Bregal Capital was established in 2002. In 2003 it successfully launched its first private equity fund, The Bregal Fund, with commitments of over €700m. In 2007 Bregal Capital subsequently closed The Bregal Fund II with commitments over €1 billion. In 2010 Bregal Capital launched The Bregal Fund III, with commitments of €1 billion. In addition, Bregal Capital manages the Bregal Europe Co-Invest Fund with commitments of over $200m.

In 2010, Bregal Investments acquired the controlling stake in Bregal Capital, changing its name from Englefield Capital. The Bregal Capital team continue to manage the Fund I and Fund II portfolios under the leadership of Adam Barron and Edmund Lazarus.
